If you take a flight to Amsterdam you will arrive at Airport Schiphol, south western of Amsterdam. The easiest, cheapest and quickest way to go to Amsterdam city centre is by train. The train station is directly below the airport, and by taking a train to "Amsterdam CS" (Central Station) you will be already within the city centre of Amsterdam. There are even night trains once an hour.

Of course, you can also take a taxi, but you are better off saving that money for a nice dinner with your travel mates or new friends in a restaurant along the channels in Amsterdam.

If you plan to rent a car, better ask your hotel in advance about parking opportunities. Within inner Amsterdam driving and parking a car can be a real challenge.
